Keeping themselves busy, Brand-New Idol Society have embarked on a collaboration with Japanese noise outfit Hijokaidan.
Noise outfit Hijokaidan emerged at the end of the 1970s coordinated by founder-member Jojo Hiroshige. The line-up frequently changed, although the regular members included Jojo’s wife Junko and Toshiji Mikawa (Incapacitants).
Contemporaries of the likes of S.O.B. and The Stalin, Hijokaidan employed a large performance art element into their live shows. Highlights included wrecking the venue, wrecking equipment, throwing food and garbage around, pyrotechnics and urinating on stage. Now you’re thinking what a shame it is that no one caught this on film – and you’d be wrong. Note the part of the show near the end where the audience are so scared they actually run away.
These days, Hijokaidan focus more on music and are happy to embark on some unlikely collaborations. In January 2013 they released the Hatsune Kaidan EP which saw them creating music alongside everyone’s favourite Vocaloid Hatsune Miku.
The current line up of Hijokaidan consists of Jojo, Junko and Toshiji Mikawa. The collaboration with BiS is a 7 track album titled BiS Kaidan and features such classic BiS numbers as nerve, primal and PPCC. It also features a cover version of Jun Togawa’s 好き好き大好き (Matter Of Taste Love). A special edit pv of 好き好き大好き has been released which sees BiS Kaidan in action emulating the antics of classic Hijokaidan.
The track listing is as follows:
04. eat it
06. Hide out cut
BiS Kaidan is released on CD and vinyl on 7th August.
