JAPAN NIGHT Feat VAMPS

headerJAPAN NIGHT is coming to London this summer bringing along the combined musical talents of VAMPS, LING TOSITE SIGURE, [ALEXANDROS] and OKAMATO’S.

Staged over two nights this July, Japan Night coincides with HYPER JAPAN with both events taking place at The O2 in London. Although Hyper Japan has its own musical guests taking care of daytime duties, it’ll be Japan Night leading the charge for the evening events at the Indigo in The O2.

Previously, Japan Night took place in Tokyo 2014 (where the line-up featured the likes of L’Arc~en~Ciel) and this marks the event’s first UK shows. Here’s what you can look forward to…

vampsVAMPS
Originally formed by HYDE (L’Arc~en~Ciel) and K.A.Z. (Oblivion Dust), VAMPS have been keen to establish a beachhead in the UK as proponents of solid Japanese rock tunes.

They performed here in 2013, coinciding with their signing to Universal/Delicious Deli Records. The same year they released their greatest hits album SEX BLOOD ROCK N’ ROLL.

With a particular talent for staging captivating live shows, including the annual Halloween Junky Orchestra events, VAMPS will once again be thrilling audiences at The O2 this summer.

alexandros[Alexandros]
This indie outfit originally formed in 2007 and have since scored consistent Top 10 hits in the Oricon charts with their unique rock style, which weaves in a pop sensibility with an energetic up-tempo sound. They sold out their first Nippon Budokan solo show the day tickets went on sale and continue to headline festivals across Japan.

The 4-piece outfit have opened for the likes of MUSE and PRIMAL SCREAM in their native Japan and have also performed live at the SXSW Festival in the US and The Great Escape here in the UK.

okamotosOKAMOTO’S
Psychedelic garage outfit OKAMOTO’S were inspired by Japanese avant-garde artist Taro Okamoto and The Ramones (from whom they adopted the use of the band name in their stage names). They made their recording debut in 2009 and signed to Ariola Japan in 2010. The same year they played SXSW and toured the US.

OKAMOTO’S have also made musical contributions to anime shows, including the boisterous ‘Headhunt’ for Durarara and also ‘Yokubō o Sakebe!!!’ which was used as an ending theme for popular anime series Naruto: Shippuden.

lingLing tosite sigure
Post-hardcore outfit Ling tosite sigure formed back in 2002 and made their major debut in 2008. Their sound combines distorted guitars and high-pitched vocals that lend a particular raw and often disorientating sound to their music.

Their fifth album I’mperfect was released in 2013 and the album was licensed for release by JPU Records in Europe the same year.

The rock trio are perhaps better known for their contributions to cult anime series Psycho-Pass, including the single ‘Abnormalize’ in 2014, which sold over 33,000 copies. In 2015 they contributed the hypnotic beats of ‘Who What Who What’ for Psycho-Pass: The Movie.
