INTERVIEW : ANNA YANO

Anime songstress guests at Hyper Japan

Among the new visitors to Hyper Japan in 2014 was ANNA YANO who began her career modelling and has since branched out into music, singing ‘Shape My Story’ – the opening theme to the anime Stella Women’s Academy, High School Division Class C3 (with a guest appearance from Sailor Fuku Ojisan!).

Anna also collaborated with Kz (livetune) for the opening theme to Magica Wars. We were fortunate to catch her backstage at Hyper Japan for a brief interview…

Are there any particular singers or music groups that have influenced you?

Yukari Tamura is the singer I’m most influenced by. She’s a Japanese anime singer.

How did you meet kz (livetune)?

Through the connection with the production agency.

What is kz like to work with?

At the beginning I was really nervous working with him because he’s really professional and I was a beginner, but later on I got much more respect and influence from working with him.

You jump between music and modelling. Is there either of those that you find more rewarding?

I would like to balance all the careers – modelling and singing.

You’re obviously a fan of anime, are there any favourite characters that you admire?

Miki from THE iDOLM@STER.

What are your plans for the future?

I would like to produce more anime songs and I would like to release more singles and albums.
