It seems like HYPER JAPAN was just yesterday and already J-Pop duo YANAKIKU have announced a return to the popular Japanese culture event for this summer.
Yanakiku won over new fans at Hyper Japan with their engaging personalities and enthusiasm. Their eye-catching ‘Kimicocos’ (a modern adaptation of the kimono) also made them stand out for both stage performances and their popular Japanese calligraphy sessions. J-Pop Go caught up with the colourful pair for an interview during their last Hyper Japan appearance in which they commented: “We really want to go for originality in what we do”.
The pair have kept busy since 2013’s Hyper Japan event with appearances at both TIFFCOM and Tokyo Dome’s Furusato Matsuri as well as working on new material. In between, they’ve found time to release energetic dance pop tune ‘Fujiyama Disco’ via various outlets, including iTunes. The promo video for ‘Fujiyama Disco’ clocked up over 60,000 views in its first month on YouTube.
Hyper Japan has become an established event on the calendar with its combination of both traditional and modern aspects of Japanese culture. The event hosts a weekend of exhibits, food, music, performances, culture, games and displays celebrating the best of Japan. As well as Yanakiku, this year’s event will also see performances by Japanese musician MAYUKO. Hyper Japan takes place at Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London on 25th-27th July.
