AREA 11 Feat Beckii Cruel release ‘Shi no Barado’

The collaborative effort between Bristol rock outfit AREA 11 and BECKII CRUEL has now been released.

Shi No Barado is an impressive slice of pop-infused rock with some smooth melodic touches and confident vocals. The video accompanying the song is a very slick set of visuals too.

The creation of Shi No Barado was revealed when we interviewed Beckii back in December 2012: “A few months back Area 11 got in contact with me and they asked me if I wanted to be a feature vocal on one of their tracks called Shi No Barado and I was really interested and so I said ‘Yes, please send me the track’. It’s very different to what I normally do. The genre is Gaijin Rock which is like J-Rock with an English style to it. We recorded the song only about a month and a half ago and it went so well and I was thrilled and it was music that really suited my voice, which is probably unexpected to a lot of people but I had so much fun”.

Area 11 are a 4-piece outfit from Bristol who took their name from the anime series Code Geass (in which Area 11 is the name for Japan) and whose songs often take inspiration from anime and games.

Shi No Barado is taken from the new Area 11 album All the Lights in the Sky.

New TOMMY FEBRUARY6 album this June

Following on from her split album February & Heavenly in 2012, Tommy February⁶ returns with a brand new album this June.

‘TOMMY CANDY SHOP ❤ SUGAR ❤ ME’ will feature the single ‘Be My Valentine’ and also includes ‘Runaway’ which featured as the end theme for the TV series Jitsuroku Sekai no Mystery. The album is also part of what’s described as ‘The Brilliant Green Tomoko Kawase Debut 15th Anniversary Project’.

The album will be released as both a normal edition and a special Limited Edition with DVD featuring two songs from the album. ‘TOMMY CANDY SHOP ❤ SUGAR ❤ ME’ is released 12th June.

J-Pop Go to guest at LAC this July

London Anime Con returns with a packed weekend of anime, manga, gaming and cosplay events.

Once again, J-Pop Go will be attending and providing DJ duties as part of the Saturday evening events. Expect a variety of J-Pop tunes along with a side order of K-Pop! AKB48′s Minami Minegishi talks about the head shaving incident

Several months after the drama that surrounded AKB48 member Minami Minegishi, Minami appears on the cover of woman’s magazine Fujin Koron and chats about the incident that caused so much debate.

Minami had made a tearful appearance on a video with her head shaved following the story. Asked about the motivation behind this act, Minami commented: “It was not because I was mentally out of control, but it was a result of thinking what I should do to convey my feeling of apology. And I thought I wanted to convey it in a visible form, then, what went through my mind was “Shaving my head””. More Inside »

RAYCHELL’s debut album release via Avex, L>R serves up a collection of tunes that demonstrate the ability of the soulful songstress to embrace a broad variety of styles. From wistful piano-led ballads to edgy electropop numbers and a selection of R&B along the way.

The album is also the culmination of a slightly circuitous route through the music industry for Raychell. PERFUME switch to larger venue for London gig

PERFUME are to switch venues for their forthcoming London concert following demand.

The ticket sales for Perfume’s London concert scheduled for Friday 5th July were overwhelmed, resulting in the tickets selling out almost within an hour of being on sale. As a result, Perfume have today announced that they are switching from the O2 Academy Islington (capacity 800) to the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire (capacity 2,000).

The 3-piece technopop outfit have been pushing their global presence steadily over the past year and this will mark their first concert appearance in this country. The trio are also performing in Cologne on 3rd July and Paris on 7th July.

Additional tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday 26th April priced £20 (subject to booking fee) from www.livenation.co.uk or www.ticketmaster.co.uk. Ticket holders from the O2 Academy Islington booking will still be able to use their tickets at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire.

CAMCON 2013 Tickets Available

CAMCON – Cambridge’s largest convention dedicated to comics, anime, sci-fi, gaming and alternative fashion now has tickets available for its 2013 event – and J-Pop Go will be providing DJ duties.

CAMCON takes place on Saturday 31st August at the Cambridge Junction and and features Cosplay Masquerade, Comic Industry Talks, Live bands, Club Night with DJ sets by J-Pop Go and PsychoCandy, Japanese Maid Cafe, Anime Screenings, Karaoke, Gaming Tournaments, Alternative Fashion Show and much more. MOMOIRO CLOVER Z top Oricon album chart

It’s clearly becoming MOMOIRO CLOVER Z‘s year as not only has their new album release 5TH DIMENSION topped the Oricon weekly album chart but their debut album BATTLE AND ROMANCE (originally released in 2011) has also returned to the charts and landed the No. 2 position.

This marks Momoclo’s highest chart position to date with 5TH DIMENSION selling over 180,000 copies in its first week. Holding both the No.1 and No.2 positions is also the first time such a feat has been achieved by a female group.

As well as their album successes, 6 of their previous singles have also returned to the Top 100 chart rankings.
