Thanks to everyone who attended the Christmas J-Pop Go. It was an unusually quiet night compared with the other 2006 events, but everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Thanks to Azure for her help. MVM and ADV for sponsoring, Cafe Manga for being hosts, Matt, Jimmy Messerschmitt and Chococat for the tunes.
Meanwhile, there's a gallery of pics from the Christmas event available here: J-Pop Go Christmas Gallery. Thanks to Pat Lyttle for the pics.
Our next event is scheduled for February 2007 - See you all there! ^_^
It's J-Pop Go time again with our Christmas Party scheduled for next week Saturday 2nd December.

A reminder that our next J-Pop Go event is scheduled for Saturday 2nd December - expect a Christmas theme along with all the usual J-Pop goodness!!
Meanwhile, there's an additional gallery of pics from the Halloween event available here: J-Pop Go Halloween Gallery II.
The Halloween J-Pop Go event was a great night so thanks to all those that helped make it happen: EmilyB and Choco did wonders for the room dressing, Tanoshimi for sponsoring, Cafe Manga for being hosts, Neil Taylor at BT Photographic for the posters and of course Matt, Jimmy Messerschmitt, Chococat and Voxie for the tunes.
The new J-Pop Go Halloween Gallery is now up. Thanks to Pat Lyttle for the pics.
Thanks to all those that have ordered tickets via the J-Pop Go website recently. All attendees should know that food will once again be available at Cafe Manga on the night. This includes the ever-popular Yaki Tori as well as curry and (naturally) Pocky. Also remember to sample the Sochu cocktails if you get a chance on the night ^_^
We've recently revised the Terms & Conditions for attending the event. Updates include weapons policy for cosplay and a reminder that J-Pop Go is an 18+ venue and in some cases appropriate ID is required. More via J-Pop Go Terms & Conditions.
We're proud to welcome onboard an additional sponsor for October's Halloween J-Pop Go. Tanoshimi are the UK publishers for many of the popular manga titles issued by Del Rey in the US. This includes Negima, xxxHOLiC and Tsubasa. From early 2007 Tanoshimi will be publishing most of their titles simultaneously with Del Rey. Expect some great manga goodies up for grabs at the J-Pop Go Kowaiathon!
Christmas is on the way and that means a festive J-Pop Go! More details to follow but we're also proud to announce the support of MVM Entertainment for our December event. MVM occupies a unique position in the UK Anime scene acting as licensor, distributor, wholesaler and retailer for a wide range of titles including Full Metal Alchemist, Paranoia Agent, Samurai Champloo, Love Hina and Serial Experiments Lain.
Meanwhile, here on the J-Pop Go website we have updates on the Music & DJs pages as well as the Events page.
Apologies, but there's been a last minute change of plan for the Halloween J-Pop Go. Cafe Manga have told us that we cannot stage a live band on that specific night. So The Shinonome Orchestra will not be performing at J-Pop Go on the 28th October.
However, J-Pop Go will still be taking place on that same date and the ticket price has been revised as a result of the change of plan. Tickets for J-Pop Go will now be £5. No online ticket orders have been processed so far, but they'll now be processed with that reduced ticket price. If anyone who has ordered tickets wishes to cancel their order then please contact us directly.
Apologies for anyone who made specific plans to travel in order to see The Shinonome Orchestra and we'll look at hosting live bands again perhaps in the future.
J-Pop
Go returns on Saturday 28th October to present our Halloween-themed night KOWAIATHON
which will feature a degree of spookiness along with the usual J-Pop goodness.
We're also proud to announce that a live band will be performing on the night in the form of the Shinonome Orchestra. Anyone who attended the It Came From Japan showcase concerts earlier this year will have experienced this 11-piece combo. Expect striking costumes, catchy tunes and some great on-stage entertainment (even though we don't actually have a stage!).
We'll also have a night of fantastic J-Pop and J-Rock from old school to underground through to anime and game tunes courtesy of our Djs including Jimmy Messerschmitt, Chococat, Voxie, Take Off and GenkiBoi. Expect a range of sounds from the likes of Puffy, Tommy February6, Polysics, Guitar Vader, Mika Bomb, YMO, Asian Kung Fu Generation, Sandii and The Sunsetz, Halcali, Utada Hikaru, Rip Slyme and much more. A free Raffle for paying attendees will also be available with superb anime prizes from our good friends at ADV Films.
Our venue of choice will again be Café Manga which is at the Westminster Bridge end of County Hall. Kick off is 7pm on Saturday October 28th and tickets will be £6. Discounts for cosplayers will be available at our discretion. We're also introducing discounts for subscribers to the J-Pop Go magazine as well. You can order tickets online via the Tickets Section or you can buy tickets directly on the door on the night. Please note that tickets will be strictly limited for this event.
Thanks to all those that made it down for the Pirates vs Ninjas night on Saturday. It was a great night and we're definitely seeing an increase in the number of cosplayers coming along to J-Pop Go. Pirates mingled with Ninjas in a friendly way - and even danced with each other to some fantastic tunes courtesy of the J-Pop Go DJs!.
A Photo Gallery courtesy of Pat Lyttle is now up on the site with pics from the night.
Another interesting event on Saturday night was the arrival of a TV crew from Rapture TV. The crew did some interviews with some J-Pop Go team members as well as some of the attendees. The footage will be screened later in the year - more details will be posted up at a later date.
Eternal thanks to Voxie, Jimmy Messerschmitt, Chococat (who also provided the visuals) and Matt (who also provided the equipment and lights) for the music.
Thanks also to all the people who helped and contributed to the event: Emily, Chris, Sylvia, Neil Taylor at BT Photographic and of course our hosts at Cafe Manga.
The Halloween J-Pop Go is next on the schedule for Saturday October 28th so please mark the date in your Hello Kitty diaries. ^_^
The Pirates vs Ninjas J-Pop Go night is almost upon us. Hoist the Jolly Roger
then and prepare for a night of top tunes from our DJ's Voxie,
Chococat and Take Off spinning the decks.
We'll also be employing guest DJ Jimmy Messerschmitt
who'll be playing a lot of 'old school' J-Pop including the likes of Yellow
Magic Orchestra, Sandii and The Sunsetz, Akiko Yano, Susan and Ippu
Do.
You can order tickets online via the Tickets Section or you can buy tickets directly on the door on the night. Tickets are £4 (with discounts for cosplayers) and the event starts at 7pm at Cafe Manga in County Hall on the South Bank, London (Next to Westminster Bridge).
Don't forget that it's also International Talk Like a Pirate Day on Monday!
A reminder that it's going to be Pirates vs Ninjas on Saturday September 23rd for J-Pop Go at Café Manga.
Meanwhile, don't forget that it's International Talk Like a Pirate Day on September 19th - a good time to be getting some practice in matey!!
It's all change again for the next J-Pop Go - we're now doing our Pirates vs Ninjas thing on Saturday September 23rd.
Meanwhile, we now have a dedicated MySpace presence here: http://www.myspace.com/jpopgo so pay us a visit when you get a chance!
The next J-Pop Go is now scheduled to take place on Saturday September 16th - so please change your plans accordingly.
No change on our theme of Ninjas vs Pirates - or our venue at Cafe Manga, so make a date in your diaries and join us on the 16th!
In keeping with our upcoming theme of Pirates vs Ninjas, we're running a poll asking for your opinion on the eternal struggle - is it Pirates or Ninjas? You decide!
More info on our forthcoming Pirates vs Ninjas night: We'll have the wonderful talents of DJ's Voxie, Chococat and Take Off spinning the decks. To kick the evening off, we'll also be employing guest DJ Jimmy Messerschmitt who'll be playing a lot of 'old school' J-Pop including the likes of Yellow Magic Orchestra, Sandii and The Sunsetz, Akiko Yano, Susan and Ippu Do.
The next J-Pop Go is scheduled to take place in September when the theme will be Pirates vs Ninjas! Dig out your pirate costumes or your ninja outfits as we're going to find out once and for all who's better - the salty sea dogs or the men in black.
As ever, our DJs will be spinning some choice tunes (and are also open to requests). Once again, our venue of choice will be Café Manga on the South Bank.
More details to be flagged up on the J-Pop Go site shortly, but we're looking at a provisional date of the weekend of 9th September at the moment.
Thanks to all that attended our Magical Girls vs. Magical Boys J-Pop Go night on July 1st. It was a hot night and we were going up against the World Cup and the Gay Pride march, but we managed to put on a popular night courtesy of our DJs. So big thanks to Voxie, Gareth and Matt (who supplied the PA, lights and visuals) and special thanks to Chococat who was making her J-Pop Go debut. Judging by the response, she was very popular indeed!
Thanks to Hugh David andADV who donated prizes for our Raffle Draw. Thanks also to all the people who helped and contributed to the event: Emily, Sylvia, Chi, Neil Taylor and of course our hosts at Cafe Manga.
The next J-Pop Go is provisionally scheduled for early September - it's Ninjas vs Pirates! Details to follow!
Meanwhile, we've got some great pics from the event up on the Gallery courtesy of Pat Lyttle.
A quick note to say that today will be a busy day in London. Aside from the footie, the London Gay Pride festival is also taking place today. Please bear this in mind and allow a little extra time to get down for J-Pop Go.
ADV are generously throwing in some prizes for our Free Prize Draw on Saturday night, including DVD copies of DNAangel! Visit our Magical J-Pop Page for more details!
J-Pop Go goes magical for our forthcoming July 1st event! For one night only, it's Magical Girls vs. Magical Boys so you're encouraged to cosplay for the night drawing inspiration from whatever takes your fancy: Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Tokyo Mew Mew, Negima!, DNAngel, XXXHOLiC or the manga/anime of your choice!
You can pre-order tickets for the event via our Order Form or pay on the door. Tickets for J-Pop Go will be £4 and the event runs from 7pm to 1am on Saturday 1st July.
Meanwhile, we also have a new Survey asking you your thoughts on cosplaying at J-Pop Go!.
A reminder that J-Pop Go will be making a special appearance this Friday as part of Buttoned Down Disco.
Our resident DJs Voxie, Highpriest, KyuKyuSha and Take Off will all be giving the decks a spin on the night which is taking place at 93 Feet East in Brick Lane, London. The event will feature Buttoned Down Disco in the main room including a special live performance at 9:30pm by Shlomo. In the pink bar, BDD regulars the Diskoboxx DJ's are taking you on a journey through anything from Blondie to Uffie whilst the gallery bar will be the dedicated J-Pop Go room!
The event runs from 8pm to 2am and entry is free before 9pm with a copy of the event invite, then £5 afterwards. To sign up for invites, simply go here: www.buttoneddowndisco.com/list.htm.

Our April event appears to have been another successful night and the Japanese School Disco theme appears to have been popular! We also managed to raise a total of £227.11 for Ergi from Mika Bomb. We've got some great pics from the event up on the Gallery courtesy of Pat Lyttle.
Thanks to all those that bought Raffle tickets or donated money on the night. Special thanks also to the generous people and companies who donated prizes for our Raffle Draw: ADV Films, Terratag, Daniel Robson, Tofu Records and the members of Mika Bomb. Thanks also to all the people who helped and contributed to the event: our DJs Voxie, KyuKyuSha & Highpriest, Hugh David from ADV, Chi, Nihoko, Neil Taylor and of course our hosts at Cafe Manga.
The next J-Pop Go is provisionally scheduled for late June. Details to follow!
Thanks to all those that have placed online ticket orders this week. As time is quite tight we will bring a list of those people on the door so we can check you off at the venue after opening time.
Tomorrow (Friday) will be quite busy and there is unlikely to be time to process anymore online orders for tickets. If you still intend on coming down on Saturday night, please be prepared to pay on the door.
An update on things to bear in mind for Saturday night:
Cafe Manga will be selling both Japanese food (in the shape of curry) and Pocky on Saturday night. As attendees from the last event will know, these were both hot sellers - so grab them early!
As previously reported, J-Pop Go will be making use of a second room at the venue. This will be used as a changing area for the cosplayers and also provide more toilets for the venue itself. The second room is located next door in County Hall (turn left as you enter the building). Please note that the second room will be accessible only up until 11:30pm.
A quick update on plans for the April 1st event - We're very keen on encouraging cosplay for the night to fit in with the Japanese School Disco theme. So if you're a fan of Cromartie High School, Azumanga Daioh or even Battle Royale then you know what to do!
We had some issues with gaining access to our secondary room as it will not be completely ready in time for the event. However, at this stage it appears we will get to use it, if only in a limited fashion - ie for the toilets alone. But we're also looking at using it for a changing area for cosplayers as well.
The plans for a cloakroom are still not definite. It's a little impractical to use the second room for this, but we may be able to rack coats at the front of the venue.
Drinks will be at reduced prices on the night.^_^
If you're planning on attending then do bear in mind the following:
J-Pop Go is going back to school as ADV
will be using the event to launch the anime release of Cromartie
High School. Expect a thoroughly bonkers anime (based on the popular manga) focussing
on the deliquents, tough guys and losers who stalk the corridors of a school that
gets a 'B' for bad. Cromartie
High School can be viewed as the flipside of ADV's other hilarious school
drama Azumanga Daioh with
an equally crazy cast of characters.
With this in mind, the next J-Pop Go on April 1st is aiming to do its own version of the popular School Disco events by staging the first Japanese School Disco. Attendees are encouraged to dress up in their favourite school uniforms for the event. More via our dedicated Japanese School Disco page.
J-Pop Go is scheduled for Saturday April 1st and will once again be taking place at Cafe Manga, London. We're planning to make the event better by introducing price reductions on drinks and the addition of a new room which will serve as a chill-out/lounge area where we will also be screening anime.
The J-Pop Go website has been tidied up and slightly upgraded. The new feature for the site is a search engine - a useful addition as the site gets ever-larger. We've also brought back the FAQ section.
As some of you may be aware, Ergi - the drummer for Mika Bomb became dreadfuly ill in December of last year with suspected meningitis. He was rushed to intensive care and was very critical for a while. Since then, Ergi has pulled through, although it will take some time for him to recover from such a terrible trauma.
The next J-Pop Go event is going to be dedicated to Ergi and we're going to use the opportunity to raise funds to help him and his family. More details to follow. The next J-Pop Go is scheduled for Saturday April 1st 2006.
Meanwhile, please visit the Mika Bomb website here: www.mikabomb.com for updates on Ergi and other news. There is a dedicated PayPal address where you can send donations here: theredstudio@tokyo.com.
A reminder that we still have two J-Pop Go Competitions running here on the site. You can win some goodies from Ubisoft as well as great anime titles from ADV Films.
Thanks to all those that entered our last J-Pop Go Competition. The winners are: Jamie Gallant, Arnaud Robin and Ramesh Kanesan who each win a Special Edition copies of the anime Spriggan courtesy of those kind folks at ADV Films.
We've now got some great pics from last Saturday's J-Pop Go up on the Gallery courtesy of Pat Lyttle.
Lost Property Dept: Someone left behind a double CD last week. If it was your one then email with details and I'll send it back to you. There was also a scarf left at he venue.
Meanwhile, those nice folks at www.jpop.com have penned an overview on what J-Pop Go is all about. ^_^
Well our first Saturday night event in our new Cafe Manga venue has been and gone - and what a night it was! Thanks to everyone who came along for the night. Special thanks to all those that helped make J-Pop Go a very special event: Our sponsors Ubisoft and ADV Films - some people went home happy with anime DVD's as well as a PSP (yes, we actually gave one away!), Matt from Departure Lounge who provided the equipment, lights and DVD projector, Azure and Emily who helped man the front desk, Chi who helped when we needed it (and proved to be master of the balloons), DJs Voxie, KyuKyuSha and Gareth who (along with Matt) put on some fantastic tunes, Neil Taylor at BT Photographic for providing us with the superb quality promo material and Hiroshi our Cafe Manga host.
We'll have photos up on the J-Pop Go website soon. Meanwhile, drop by our brand new J-Pop Go Forum and post up your thoughts on the evening!
Our next event is scheduled for Saturday April 1st - see you all there!
Thanks for all the people who ordered tickets online. Please note that we will not be processing any more orders taken via the website from now. You can also buy tickets on the door at the venue though.
See you all at J-Pop Go tonight!
A quick update on plans for the next J-Pop Go on Saturday February 11th - and a chance to answer some queries that people have asked about the event:
We're
proud to announce that the next J-Pop Go on Saturday February 11th will be sponsored by both Ubisoft and ADV Films. Ubisoft is a leading producer, publisher
and distributor of interactive entertainment products worldwide. The next event
will serve as the UK launch party for two new Ubisoft games: Drakengard 2
and Tales of Eternia. Both games are action-packed RPG adventures.
People attending J-Pop Go will get a chance to play some of these games at the venue itself - plus you'll have an opportunity to win some great prizes from Ubisoft . Combined with our competition here on the website (and the magazine) you could win a PSP, a PS2 and copies of both Tales of Eternia and Drakengard 2. Check the Competition page for details.
ADV
Films are proud to announce the launch of a great new anime title - Elfen
Lied is a gripping, bloody adventure with more limb-breaking, muscle-tearing,
blood-spurting action than you can shake a stick at.
Also available is the critically-acclaimed thriller Boogiepop Phantom. Get a chance to view both titles at the next J-Pop Go event.
As you can see, we've spruced up the website yet again and made a few slight changes - we've archived the older news entries (see link on the side) as well. We've got a new downloadable Desktop and there's also a new Poll tackling the tricky subject of what you enjoy doing most at J-Pop Go.
Tickets for the next J-Pop Go on Saturday February 11th are now available here on the website or you can buy them on the door on the night.
J-Pop Go's new venue will be Cafe Manga which is based near the London Eye in County Hall on the South Bank. Our first event is scheduled for Saturday 11th February. More details to follow soon.
