Forum Registration

Postby PaulB on Wed Jan 31, 2007 4:06 pm

I've disabled user-activated account activation for the forum to deter the spammers who are constantly abusing the system.

Instead, new people will have to be activated at this end. Sorry if this inconveniences anyone!

The forum has had a (slight) upgrade which caused to go offline for a bit. Sorry for any inconvenience!

Meanwhile, we also had a huge back-up of new accounts waiting to be activated. I've now dealt with all those (and also deleted all the usual spammers).

I've had to block a number of web-based email accounts from registering in a bid to stop a huge chunk of spammers from getting anywhere near the Forum.

This includes Hotmail, Gmail and Yahoo email addys. Sorry if this causes issues for anyone genuine wanting to register, but every day sees the forum hammered with these idiots and they have to be deleted by hand.

Have you put a note on the forum registration page? Might be a good idea to warn potential new forumers of the wait.

There were a few problems with the forum that prevented people from registering. If that affected you, then please try again now ^_^

Hi Neostar, most web-based emails are blocked as those are the email addys that spammers plague the forum with. Unfortunately that does catch out some genuine people.

You should be able to change it in your profile, but it will lock your account. But I can unlock it from this end. I'll check later this evening and fix it up.

Alternatively, just email me via the J-Pop Go site and I'll switch your email over manually.
