AKB48 members attacked at handshake meet

The AKB48 world was rocked by an incident earlier today in which 2 members of the outfit were reported to have been assaulted.

During a handshake event held today at the Iwate Industry Culture & Convention Center in Takizawa City, Rina Kawaei and Anna Iriyama (who are members of Team A) were apparently attacked by a man attending the event. Sources say that the man was armed with a serrated blade which had previously been concealed. A staff member was also attacked.

All three victims were taken to hospital and are said to have suffered light injuries. The assailant was arrested at the scene.
